When we
set out to develop a calorie dense weight gainer, we were compelled to “shoot
for the stars.” Our goal was to produce something extraordinary; something
awesome in nature and quality. We wouldn’t settle for a formula that was chocked
full of fat-inducing maltodextrin, we wouldn’t settle for artificial sweeteners,
we wouldn’t compromise on the quality of the proteins, fats or carbohydrates and
we wouldn’t accept anything but the very best in terms of mouth feel and taste.
To put it bluntly, we were looking for a weight gainer that would be of colossal
power and achievement…a Goliath amongst the ordinary. Goliath is
centered around the proprietary and patent-pending protein source called
Colostrim.
This milk/whey-derived protein is specially processed so that all of the most
potent protein fractions contained in milk are isolated and contained in this
one ingredient. Colostrim contains an unusually high percentage of small peptide
protein fractions such as lactoferrin as well as potent growth factors like
IGF-1. Colostrim is unlike other protein sources in that it initiates noticeable
increases in lean body mass while simultaneously suppressing the accumulation of
body fat. To round out the formula and ensure extended blood values of amino
acids, we added sustained release micellar casein and egg albumin. We weren’t
satisfied with Goliath just having the best protein. We knew that we also needed
an incredible and special fat source. We could have just added inferior fats
(like soybean or palm oil); however, there is nothing particularly healthy about
these types of fats and they have a tendency to drastically increase adipose
deposition. On the contrary, Goliath contains a specific ratio of high oleic
acid sunflower oil (similar to olive oil) as well as medium chain triglycerides
(MCTs), conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and phosphatidylserine (PS). Together,
these lipids improve health and well being and actually have a tendency to
promote a lean, lithe body. Finally, Goliath contains a carbohydrate
blend consisting of all natural dehydrated cane juice, palatinose and trehalose.
This blend is designed to contain both slow and fast acting carbohydrates so
that blood insulin and glucose levels are maintained steadily over an extended
period of time. Energy values are maintained at high levels and
carbohydrate-induced adipose tissue is kept at a minimum.
- What is Goliath?
Goliath is a high calorie nutritional drink for
individuals wanting to increase their daily caloric intake.
- What makes Goliath special?
Unlike other unwholesome weight
gain-nutritional-powders that rely on unhealthy fats and high glycemic
carbohydrates like maltodextrin, Goliath contains healthy ingredients that
truly nourish the body. In addition, Goliath contains only natural sweeteners
without the use of sucralose, aspartame or acesulfame-K.
- What type of fats does Goliath contain?
Goliath predominantly contains two
types of lipids. The first is a monounsaturated fatty acid called oleic acid.
Being the major fatty acid in olive oil, oleic acid is the reason why olive
oil has outstanding health benefits. Oleic acid is not only the healthiest fat
for cardiovascular health, but it also helps to normalize the body’s
inflammatory response. Even better, compared to other fatty acids, oleic acid
is not deposited as readily as adipose tissue (body fat). Instead of
containing olive oil which has a strong taste, Goliath contains 80% oleic acid
bland sunflower oil (the same concentration of oleic acid in olive oil).
Goliath also contains fatty acids called medium chain triglyerides (MCTs).
Although considered saturated fats, MCTs are not considered to have the
negative effects associated with longer chain saturated lipids. In fact, MCTs
are not even processed by the body like other fats. Instead of being
transported and stored as adipose tissue, MCTs go directly to the liver to be
burned as fuel. Over the years, a great deal of research demonstrates that
MCTs are a healthy fuel source that can assist a person in becoming lean and
healthy.
- What type of carbohydrates does Goliath contain?
Goliath contains a
combination of three carbohydrates including all natural dehydrated cane
juice, palatinose and trehalose. Unlike maltodextrin which is one of the
highest glycemic carbohydrates known, palatinose and trehalose are all natural
carbohydrates which have very low glycemic indexes and have many
health-promoting properties. Although considered sugars, palatinose and
trehalose do not act like traditional sugars as they do not rapidly increase
blood sugar and insulin levels. Instead, Palatinose and trehalose are
metabolized slowly and cause blood sugar and insulin levels to rise gradually
and evenly over a prolonged period of time. Consequently, energy levels are
optimized and remain heightened for many hours after consumption. The
beneficial metabolic properties of palatinose and trehalose also result in
these sugars preserving muscle tissue and reducing the formation of
carbohydrate-induced adipose tissue.
- What about Goliaths’s protein source?
Goliath contains the same fast
(whey), medium (egg) and slow (micellar casein) acting protein sources as
Matrix 5.0. These high quality proteins are extremely bland and allow Goliath
to have a superb taste profile. Furthermore, the combination of whey protein,
egg albumin and micellar casein gives a person the unique benefits of each of
these proteins while negating any potential shortcomings.
- Who should consume Goliath?
Goliath is ideal for anyone who wants or needs
to consume additional calories and prefers to accomplish this in the
healthiest and most efficient means possible. Ideal candidates are young
children, the elderly, teenagers, bodybuilders, and those with medical
conditions that require an increased caloric load.
- When should Goliath be consumed?
Goliath may be drank anytime throughout
the day. It may be consumed along with meals or as an additional meal or snack
throughout the day. Although Goliath is formulated to taste great mixed with
water, it is even better when mixed with milk. Based on taste preference,
Goliath should be mixed with 8-16 ounces of water or milk per serving.
